Not something that I usually blog about, but one of my main interests other than geek stuff is music. I enjoy allsorts of sounds, I’ll listen to anything (but usually not metal!), specifically, electronic/dance music is my thing, trance, house, drum n bass, garage (bassline), RnB….
Over the weekend just gone, 16th to 18th April 2009 history was made in trance music – Armin Van Buuren, voted Number 1 in the DJ Magazine top 100 DJ’s, celebrated the 400th Episode of his radio show, A State of Trance, by recording a special 72 hour show which involved live DJ gigs across Germany, UK and Holland followed by a camera crew and a host of other top DJ’s – too many to name!
All the nightclub gigs were a complete sell out, but fortunately myself, my girlfriend and several friends had tickets for the UK gig which was held at AIR Nightclub in Birmingham, home of Godskitchen, which was absolutely incredible!

MIX09 has been and gone, but videos of the sessions that took place have been published online (see MIX09 Videos) which is fantastic because for those of us who couldn’t make it, or for those who couldn’t attend some sessions, it means we can catch up online, for free, in our own time, whenever we like!
On the website, at the time of writing, there are 124 videos online(!), and I’m guessing most of them are approximately 1hr long, that’s ~124 hours of video, just over 5 days! Wow! Clearly, if like me you are in a full time job, you’ve got a social life and you’ve got other responsibilities, you’re unlikely to be able to catch up on all of this….

It’s worth mentioning that out of the 124 videos, there are 31 that are Silverlight related!!! If you paid close attention to my own picklist of videos to watch, you’ll probably of noticed that I haven’t chosen any Silverlight videos… This isn’t because I don’t like Silverlight, because I do, and I think it really will revolutionise the way we access media online, the thing is, for me, its a whole new ball game and I simply haven’t got the time to delve into it….!
